Tiara Montgomery, student blogger in Japan

Your own journey into the world begins when you step outside of the familiar, but you'll never get to experience it unless you take that first step. The best way to really experience Japan is not from a textbook, a television, or a computer screen. It's from speaking the language, getting to know local residents as if they were your own family, traveling outside the tourist areas to discover its hidden gems and above all else, immersing yourself in all the country has to offer.
