This course is designed to deepen understanding of Italian culture, ethnicity, and universal themes as they are portrayed in Italian film and literature. It explores commonality and difference between two different forms of creative expression, in particular novels that were then adapted for film, as well as works of authors and filmmakers that are not directly linked.
Topics vary. Viewing of films, readings. Taught in English. Can be taken as a cognate course for the Italian major.
In Rome, this course is cross-listed with Art History 1148, Italian 4240 and English 2712. Students who wish to take an additional credit hour in Italian should enroll in 4240 if they meet the prerequisites.
