Yu-Jie (Grace) Liao

Hi! I’m Yu-Jie (Grace) Liao, and I majored in mechanical engineering and global studies. I went to the Temple Rome campus summer 2019. I was born and raised in Taiwan, and I started a new chapter of my life in Philly when I came to college. Outside of my school work, I was a Conversation Partner in the Writing Center and a member of the Diamond Marching Band. Things I enjoy include walks in center city on sunny days, the sound of rain drops, and little things that surprise me every day. I can’t wait to be fascinated by all the food, architecture, and culture in Rome!

Adam Brock

Hi all! I’m Adam, and I studied mechanical engineering with a minor in music. I studied abroad in Derry, Northern Ireland during Summer 2017 and then went on to spend another summer on Temple’s Intensive German Language Program in Leipzig, Germany. The experience of studying abroad in Northern Ireland was impactful in its ability to change my perspective and foster a sense of world citizenship, and I explored similar themes while living in Leipzig!

Claire Hershey

Hello, I'm Claire! I was a recreational therapy major here at Temple, and I completed my first required internship in Belgrade, Serbia. This was my first time traveling outside of the U.S. and I could not have been more excited to go to such a beautiful country that not many people I knew had ever visited, or even heard of. As a recreational therapy major, I also wanted to spread awareness about the importance of the field, since many people haven't heard of this either. I couldn't wait for this amazing experience and to start off my senior year in a new country!

Jordan Allison

Jordan Allison

Jordan Allison studied film at Temple University and studied abroad in Rome in the summer of his junior year. He chose to stay with a family who has lived in Rome for some time instead of on Temple's campus, in order to receive a full cultural experience. He had been studying film beyond Temple for almost six years. At heart, he is a storyteller and plans on sharing his experience and his journey in a place that is unfamiliar in many ways!

Hi, my name is Andrew and I went to Oviedo with Temple for the spring of my sophomore year. I was a Global Studies major as I love learning about different cultures, languages, and customs. I was very excited to document my stay in Spain, as well as my travels throughout Europe during those months.

Aubrey Haggerty

Aubrey Haggerty

Heyo I'm Aubrey and I was a biology major and studied abroad in Gold Coast, Australia in the spring 2019! Yes of course I am terrified of big spiders, crocodiles, great white sharks and all the other friendly critters in the Land Down Under, but I booked my flight anyways. That semester was incredibly crazy to me -- I had never been out of the country, and I commuted from home for a large portion of my college career. I was beyond excited to get out there, see the world, and stumble upon some of the passions I've been trying to find. Catch me on the EAC, dudes.

Madi Pfaff

Madison Pfaff - Philadelphia, PA

Greetings, I majored in painting and drawing. In spring 2019, I studied for a semester at Temple Rome. As an artist and member of the LGBTQIA community I was excited to explore and create artwork relevant to queer culture in Italy. My work grapples with the idea of being neither here nor there, but inhabiting a space in between. My hope is that through sharing experiences, readers will gain perspective and understanding about issues concerning the LGBTQIA community.

I'm Taylor Berkoski, an English/Creative Writing major. In the spring of 2019 I studied at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England. In addition to my English major, I also had an American Studies minor. This let me pursue both of my passions -- writing and history. I'm looking forward to be able to expand my knowledge of the American culture from another country's perspective and to be creatively inspired by England's first city of literature!

Anastasia Wardhana

Anastasia; NYC; taken with film.

Hey! I’m Anastasia Wardhana, and I studied Integrated Design and Fashion Communication at Parsons School of Design in New York City. I studied abroad in Tokyo, Japan, which has been a dream of mine since middle school. I’m passionate about fashion/style, media, culture, social justice, and exploring the unique intersections between them. I was so excited to check out Tokyo’s art and fashion scene and eat as much delicious Japanese food as possible. As an Asian American artist, it was amazing to document my experience in Tokyo through film.

Cahleb Derry

Cahleb on campus at Harvard.

Hey! I’m Cahleb Derry, a Harvard alum who studied History & Literature. I spent my junior spring semester in Rome, Italy with Temple University. I had never studied Italian, and had only been to Europe once before. Thus, I couldn't wait to explore all that Rome had to offer. As a low-income student, I appreciated being afforded the opportunities to travel to places that I only would have dreamed of as a child. The prospect of meeting people from a new place and creating memories in a foreign environment was so exciting to me.
