Since its inception in Philadelphia in 1771, the Society of The Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick has been an active, vibrant organization within the Irish community. The Society exists to promote Irish culture, education and provide aid. It performs these duties in the form of scholarships and benevolence, as well as through events and activities. This particular scholarship provides recognition and financial assistance of up to $2000 to full-time Temple undergraduate students from the Delaware Valley Region who participate in for-credit study abroad programs in Ireland.

Students who apply for a Temple University Education Abroad program scholarship will automatically be considered for this award. Apply by completing the appropriate program application and essay, available within the online program application.

Eligibility Requirements: 

The scholarship is available to students who meet the following criteria:

  • Full-time Temple undergraduates
  • Participating in a Temple-approved, for-credit study abroad program in Ireland for one semester or one academic year
  • From the Delaware Valley Region (defined to be inclusive of the following counties: in New Jersey - Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Salem and Mercer; in Pennsylvania - Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia; in Maryland - Cecil; in Delaware - Kent and New Castle)

Aligned with the scholarship deadlines indicated for Temple University Education Abroad scholarships: April 1 for fall/academic year programs; October 1 for spring programs.
