Conférences de Civilisation Française

  • As a supplement to your French language instruction, the Sorbonne offers Conférences de Civilisation Française, a series of free and optional, non-credit bearing lectures given by specialists on various aspects of contemporary France, including literature, art and aesthetics, and economic problems.
  • Approximately nine hours of lectures are offered per week.

Program excursions

Typically, three to four day-long excursions are scheduled during orientation week, or on a Saturday during the program, to sites which may include: 

  • Chartres, including round-trip transportation, a guided visit to Chartres Cathedral, and a group lunch.
  • Giverny, including round-trip transportation, entrance to Monet house and gardens, a guided tour of Rouen Cathedral, and a group lunch
  • Champagne, including round-trip transportation, a guided tour of a champagne house in Epernay followed by a tasting, a guided tour of Reims Cathedral, and a group lunch. 
  • Fontainbleau, including round-trip transportation, entrance to Fontainbleau Castle with guided tour, and a group lunch.
  • Versailles
