University of Oviedo

With over 400 years of history, the University of Oviedo boasts over 25,000 students and 2,000 lecturers and researchers. Exchange students have the opportunity to take major, minor, GenEd and elecitve courses in English or Spanish, as well as Spanish language courses offered at La Casa de las Lenguas during their time abroad.

Exchange participants are required to take a full-time course load (at least 12 Temple credits) while abroad and will earn transfer credit.

Students who wish to take Spanish-taught academic courses (other than Spanish language study) must have taken at least 6 semesters of college-level Spanish or the equivalent. 

School location

The University of Oviedo is the only public institution of higher education in the Principality of Asturias, a region in northern Spain with just over one million inhabitants. Oviedo, about a 5 hour bus ride to Madrid, is surrounded by a natural landscape, rich artistic heritage and excellent road and rail links in the central area of the region.


The campus has comprehensive facilities for teaching and carrying out research work, as well as scientific and technical services, libraries, computer labs, WiFi access and other complementary provisions, all in open spaces with plenty of green areas.

Program costs

Students pay Temple tuition and fees directly to Temple.
