Andrew Downs is manager of finance and operations at Education Abroad. He joined Temple University in 2021 after 19 years with Arcadia University's College of Global Studies. Having worked in education abroad since 2002, Andrew is an enthusiastic advocate of international education, drawing on his own transformational experiences living, studying, and working overseas.
Andrew spent his junior year in London as an exchange student at Queen Mary & Westfield College, and after graduating from the University of Richmond, worked in the marketing department of a law firm in London. Andrew then earned his MBA at Arcadia University, which included experiences abroad in Vietnam and France.
Since then, Andrew has worked extensively with study abroad programs in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Ireland and has also managed internship programs. His professional experience in education abroad also includes strategic planning, business operations, and finance.
Andrew grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Outside of work, he is an avid golfer and serves as a Trustee for the J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship, which he was once fortunate to receive. A bit of an Anglophile, Andrew started playing cricket (of all things) in his 30s. He also has an affinity for Italy and enjoys visiting family there. He and his wife, Lisa, love opportunities to travel overseas and experience different cultures.
I've always been fascinated learning about other cultures and finding ways to relate to people who are different than me. I cannot think of another experience during college that has a more comprehensive impact on one's personal development and growth than spending a semester in another country -- not to mention how enjoyable the experience is.
