Students are typically notified of an admission or waitlist decision within two weeks of submitting a completed application. You can check the capacity status of upcoming programs.

Applications for the program will be reviewed on a rolling basis; therefore, students are encouraged to apply early as we are expecting a high volume of applications for summer 2020. Once the program fills, qualified applicants may be placed on a waitlist.

Application Requirements

Temple student applicants

  • Online application (Follow this link on this page for the Temple Japan Summer Semester application only. Applicants to the Temple Japan Olympics summer program should navigate to and follow the application link in that section.)
  • Most non-U.S. citizens, as well as U.S. citizens who plan to pursue paid work in Japan or stay in Japan longer than 90 days total, are required to submit a Certificate of Eligibility (pre-visa) application with their application to the program.  Detailed instructions are provided to all applicants. Because the requirements for the Certificate of Eligibility application take time to gather, and we expect space to be limited, we encourage students to start the application for the program and for the Certificate of Eligibility well in advance of the deadline.
