*Students will be given the opportunity in their applications to petition for an exception if they do not meet each of these criteria. Petitioning does not guarantee acceptance; students who do not meet the eligibility requirements are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Temple Education Abroad understands that circumstances  related to covid-19 have presented unique challenges to students that may affect their academic progress. We will take this situation into consideration when evaluating petitions for an exception.

Students will be selected mainly on the basis of their intellectual purpose and emotional maturity.

Application Requirements

Students are encouraged to apply early for Temple study abroad programs, as applications for most* programs are reviewed on a rolling basis, and space on some programs is limited. Temple Rome additionally has capacity limits for specific Program Tracks. Once a program (or Program Track) fills, qualified applicants may be placed on a waitlist, or, depending on the term, offered a spot on a second choice Temple program.  Students are typically notified of an admission or waitlist decision within two business weeks of submitting a completed application. Up to date information about a program's capacity and waitlist status can be found here

*Temple Exchanges and Architecture programs in Rome and Japan are reviewed after the deadline (not rolling admissions)

Spring 23 Capacity Alert

We are experiencing an extremely high level of interest in the Spring 2023 semester and expect the program will fill before the October 1st application deadline. As applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, we encourage you to complete your application as quickly as possible. Temple students, we will advise you on alternative program options if needed; please stay tuned for recommendations.

Temple Rome program-arranged housing is also filling fast. We will do our best to accommodate accepted students in program-arranged housing but cannot guarantee housing to all participants this year. If you have not yet completed your application, please prepare for the possibility that you will need to seek independent housing in Rome.

Temple student applicants

  • Online application
  • Academic advisor form, also available within the online application. This form is completed by your academic advisor, who will be asked to confirm your course selection for this program is appropriate for your academic plan. Be sure to request your recommendation by the application deadline.

Non-Temple student applicants

  • Online application
  • Transcripts from all colleges/universities attended since high school. Transcripts from your current institution must be official; transcripts from any previous institutions may be unofficial (unofficial transcripts may be issued from your institution or web-based from your student account, but copy and pasted versions are not acceptable). If you are applying earlier than the semester immediately preceding the program, your acceptance to the program may be provisional, pending receipt and review of an updated transcript.
  • Home College/University Approval Form indicating you have received approval from your home institution to study abroad on the Temple University program to which you are applying.
