Peer Advisors

Education Abroad is seeking a limited number of Peer Advisors who are professional, approachable, and passionate about the value of study abroad. In this paid position, students work closely with staff to support prospective study abroad participants by sharing program insights and helping them navigate the application process.

Peer Advisors play an important role in fostering an inclusive study abroad community. We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and especially encourage students interested in promoting diversity and access in global education to apply. This position provides valuable professional development, mentorship, and the opportunity to work with a team of globally minded students and staff.

Peer Advisor duties include:

  • Promoting international education by leading information sessions, virtually or in person 

  • Informally advising and assisting students preparing to study abroad with program selection, application procedures, and opportunities 

  • Developing promotional materials and assisting with other outreach efforts, including special events and classroom visits 

  • Assisting with daily office activities such as answering phones and emails, maintaining contact and event databases, and general office duties 

  • Assisting with other projects or research aligned with office needs, students' skills, and professional development interests 

Qualifications

Required 
  • Applicants must have studied abroad at Temple Rome, Temple Japan -- Kyoto, or Temple in Spain and be graduating May 2027 or later

  • Must be passionate about the value and mission of Education Abroad 

  • Share their study abroad experiences with students exploring programs and help them find an option that fits their goals and needs. 

  • Must be professional, adept at listening and communicating with others 

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and online applications such as Google Docs 

  • Strong interest in developing customer service and public speaking skills 

  • Study abroad or related international experience  

Preferred
  • Previous experience with content management systems (such as Wordpress or Drupal) and/or ability and desire to learn to use new technologies 

  • Previous office administrative experience  

  • Experience with public speaking, which may include previous work experience, classroom presentations, or other related tasks 

  • Experience with social media and/or writing for promotional purposes 

  • Skills in video editing and/or graphic design 

Selected Peer Advisors should expect to work in-person 10-15 hours per week beginning August 2026. Pay rate is $10 per hour.

Ambassadors

Study Abroad Ambassadors are student volunteers who are passionate about sharing their study abroad experiences and encouraging other students to start their own journey abroad. Ambassadors help promote Temple's overseas campuses and other Education Abroad programs across campus by connecting with students who are exploring programs and encouraging them to consider studying abroad.

This role provides an opportunity to continue reflecting on your own experience abroad while developing communication, leadership, and presentation skills alongside other globally minded students.

Ambassadors can expect to:

  • Share their study abroad experiences with students considering which program to attend  

  • Act as a peer resource for students exploring or preparing to study abroad

  • Support outreach efforts such as information sessions, fairs, and special events

  • Submit a brief reflection project highlighting what made studying abroad meaningful to you and why it matters. This may include compiling photos or content created while abroad, writing a short reflection, or participating in an interview with a Peer Advisor.

Student Advisory Committee

The Education Abroad Student Advisory Committee supports Education Abroad’s Mission, Vision, and Values by providing student perspectives, ideas, and feedback on programs, services, and outreach. Committee members work together to recommend ways to strengthen and expand global opportunities for Temple students.

This committee serves as a formal student body that collaborates with Education Abroad staff to improve and grow Temple’s study abroad offerings. Students do not need to have studied abroad to apply. We welcome students who have studied abroad, plan to study abroad, or who are simply interested in global education and want to help shape these opportunities for the Temple community.

Student Advisory Committee members can expect to:

  • Provide feedback and recommendations on Education Abroad programs, services, and initiatives

  • Collaborate with other students to brainstorm ideas that improve global opportunities at Temple

  • Attend three meetings per semester and commit to participating for one academic year

  • Complete a brief end-of-semester wrap-up activity

The committee includes undergraduate students from across Temple’s schools and colleges who represent a wide range of majors, class years, interests, and perspectives.
