Karam (he/him) is a senior global studies major in the global security concentration. He is also minoring in Arabic and political science. Karam's journey into the heart of the Middle East began with a transformative Spring 2024 semester in Amman, Jordan, through the School for International Training's (SIT) Geopolitics, International Relations, and the Future of the Middle East Program. He discovered a second family within his study abroad community. From improving his Arabic skills, to his host family experience, to the Jordanian food and culture, every moment was rich with cultural exchange and experiential learning. His program also included a plethora of excursions, ranging from the ancient wonders of Petra to the bustling streets of Istanbul, Turkey! Beyond the classroom, he interned with the Jesuit Refugee Service, engaging directly with local refugee communities in Jordan. Karam’s interests surround human rights and international law. He is also passionate about language learning and MENA studies. He is a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies and an editor for Temple’s MUNDI journal, the global studies undergraduate journal. |
