Founded in 1956, Hong Kong Baptist University is Hong Kong’s second-oldest higher learning institution. It has an established place in Hong Kong’s tertiary education sector, emphasizing academic excellence and a well-rounded education. The university has four campuses located in the heart of Kowloon. Exchange participants are required to take a full-time course load (at least 12 Temple credits) while abroad and will earn transfer credit.

The campus is located in Kowloon Tong, Kowloon. Kowloon is located on the peninsula to the north of Hong Kong Island. With over 2.1 million people living in an area of less than 47 square kilometers, Kowloon is one of the most densely populated places on the planet, and has a matching array of places to shop, eat and sleep. “Kowloon side,” as it is often known, managed to escape some of the British colonial influences that characterize the “Hong Kong Island” side. Kowloon is a less touristy part of Hong Kong; therefore less English is spoken, and prices overall tend to be less expensive.
Program participants are required to be present for the entire length of the program, from the official arrival date through the program end date.
Students may choose to live in university-arranged housing or find independent housing.
Students who decide to live in university-arranged housing will be placed in the University's Undergraduate Halls on the Baptist University Road Campus (BURC). Facilities include a common lounge (with small pantry and kitchenette) on each floor, a music and TV room, multi-purpose room, table tennis room, computer room, gym room, study room, and laundry area.
Linens are the responsibility of each occupant; students will need to bring their own or buy them in Hong Kong.
Students may request to stay on a single-gender floor or co-ed floor. Requests are subject to availability.
Students may elect to find independent housing, but please note that off-campus housing can be significantly more expensive than on-campus housing. Students will need to start searching immediately for independent housing if they choose to do so. Once students have decided to live off-campus, they will not be able to request on-campus housing should they be unable to find off-campus housing.
As an Exchange Program participant, you will have access to the support provided by your host institution.
Students will pay a non-refundable program deposit of $400 within 2 weeks of nomination to the program. This non-refundable deposit is credited to your program fees as a prepayment.
Students pay Temple tuition and fees directly to Temple. Visit Temple’s Bursar for per-credit tuition rates. All students pay University Services Fee.

Temple programs are open to qualified students matriculated at any U.S. or Canadian college or university.
You are eligible to apply if you meet the following requirements.
You meet minimum cumulative GPA requirement, on a 4.0 scale from all colleges/universities attended. The requirement varies by program:
You remain in good academic standing from the time of application until the start of your term abroad; students on academic warning are not eligible to participate.
You will need a passport, valid well beyond the length of your program, by the application deadline.

You are in good disciplinary standing at the time of application and remain so through the start of your term abroad. Students who have been found responsible for a code of conduct violation and will not be in good disciplinary standing (including disciplinary probation) may submit a petition for review.
You are at least 18 years old at the time of application.
For HKBU, the following additional considerations apply.
Non-U.S. citizens: you are welcome to study abroad if you meet the eligibility requirements; however, you are not permitted to study abroad on an exchange program in your home country. Please speak to Education Abroad if you have questions about your eligibility.
