Shuchen (Susan) Huang is an Associate Professor of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures, specializing in Chinese, in the College of Liberal Arts. 

Dr. Huang was born and grew up in Taipei, Taiwan, and graduated from National Chengchi University before leaving the country to pursue an advanced degree abroad. She is fluent in both Mandarin (the lingua franca) and Taiwanese (the most widely spoken local dialect). 

She loves learning languages and traveling. She studied in Germany for two and a half years and also lived in Tokyo for a year. Dr. Huang holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She has presented research at conferences in the U.S. and Taiwan. Her General Education teaching experience includes World Society in Literature and Film and The Detective Novel in the World.
