This course is an introduction to the many forms of screen printing. Each student will gain an understanding and proficiency of the technical process and the visual language native to the screen printing processes, and the possibilities of working with the multiple. The course goals are focused on the students developing their unique creative vision. This form of printmaking is a great way to translate graphic images and illustration into prints. Students will explore the long history and contemporary context of this process and look at artwork from a range of historical time periods up to the present. No printmaking experience is required, but a background in 2-D artmaking or design is recommended. NOTE: Prior to Fall 2026, this course was titled "Serigraphy."
