Marlie Derstine (she/her) is a program manager at the office of Education Abroad and Overseas Campuses. In her role, she works closely with the program management team to advise students, process application and visa materials, and support student health and safety throughout the study abroad process. 

Marlie brings experience in study abroad advising from her previous role at Ursinus College, where she advised students throughout the study abroad application and pre-departure processes and led initiatives to promote global engagement across campus. She is particularly passionate about expanding access to study abroad and supporting students from diverse backgrounds in navigating international experiences.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Temple University. During her undergraduate studies, she studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain, where she interned with an international NGO. After graduating, she moved abroad to Thailand where she taught English at a high school. She is passionate about travel and cross-cultural experiences, whether that be traveling abroad or exploring locally. This passion fuels her commitment to helping students explore and engage with the world around them.
