TEMPLE UNIVERSITY GLOBAL SEMINARS: ON-SITE PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR APPLICATION
Applications due: August 19, 2026
Temple University Education Abroad and Overseas Campuses and Klein Global Opportunities are pleased to invite full-time Temple staff* to apply to be an On-site Program Administrator for a Global Seminar in Spring 2027 or Spring 2028.
About Global Seminars
We are excited to expand access to global opportunities through Global Seminars—programs that combine a spring semester Main Campus course with a 7- to 10-day international travel experience during spring break or early May. Each seminar is a product of our Faculty Program Development Lab and connects coursework with hands-on learning through site visits, cultural experiences, and real-world connections.
A primary goal of Global Seminars is to expand access to high-impact global experiences to undergraduate students, faculty, and staff less likely to travel abroad for a longer term due to finances, work or family commitments, rigid academic schedules, or inexperience with international travel.
Upcoming 2027 and 2028 Global Seminars:
- Cities Under Pressure: Water, Inequity, and Change in Lima
- Spring 2027, travel over spring break
- Dr. Julie Drzymalski, Engineering, Technology, and Management
- Taiwanese Culture in Literature and Film
- Spring 2027, travel over spring break
- Dr. Shuchen (Susan) Huang, Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures

Note: A call for On-site Program Administrator applications for Spring 2029 Global Seminars will be issued at a later date.
Students will apply for the Global Seminars in the fall prior to the program (by September 15 for all seminars except Croatia which has a deadline of October 8, 2027) and register for the course as part of their spring 2027 or spring 2028 rosters. Programs are subject to sufficient enrollments (target enrollment for the courses is 15-18 students).
During the spring semester, on-campus course meetings will include time to prepare students, faculty, Program Leaders, and On-Site Program Administrators for travel. Education Abroad, Klein Global Opportunities, and Global Health, Safety and Security will provide information on cultural adaptation, health and safety abroad, and more.
Visit the Education Abroad website for more information on Global Seminars.
*On-Site Program Administrator Eligibility
Full-time Temple staff are eligible to apply to be On-site Program Administrators, with the support of their supervisor and/or nomination by their dean/VP.

For Croatia/ Klein Global Opportunities, while preference will be given to staff in Klein College, all with relevant experience are welcome to apply.
On-Site Program Administrators must have a passport that will be valid for at least six months beyond the travel component. Non-US citizens: please review host country entry requirements and contact Education Abroad prior to applying if a visa is required for you to enter.
On-Site Program Administrator Expectations and Responsibilities
Faculty Program Leaders design and deliver the academic program, including working with on-site partners to develop the itinerary and lead activities for the travel period.
For both Faculty Program Leaders and On-site Program Administrators, accompanying students abroad is a unique experience that can be deeply rewarding, as well as challenging, since the experiential nature of the program can lead to a different relationship with students than in the typical university environment.
The ideal Global Seminar On-site Program Administrator is eager to engage with Faculty Program Leaders and the cohort prior to going abroad and understands they assume significant responsibility while students are abroad, with ample support from Education Abroad and on-site partners.
On-site Program Administrators should expect a busy schedule for the travel component with highly engaged days, little free time, and constant movement around the city/area.
Specifically, On-site Program Administrators are expected to:
While on Main Campus:
along with Faculty Program Leader, actively recruit students to participate in the program according to the timeline provided by Education Abroad
attend in-person course meetings in the spring semester (before/after the travel component)
attend online or in-person training workshop(s) for program leaders/on-site administrators
participate in pre-departure orientation
collaborate with Faculty Program Leader, Education Abroad, and Global Health, Safety and Security on development of emergency/crisis response plan
- During travel component:
co-deliver on-site orientation upon arrival in host country that aligns with Temple’s on-site orientation standards
attend all program-related activities
collect and submit to Education Abroad student cell phone numbers and roommate list
be present and accessible throughout travel which includes sharing your phone number, participating in and monitoring the WhatsApp group, facilitating difficult conversations or conflicts, and cultivating a welcoming environment
be on-call and available to assist 24/7 in the event of an urgent/emergency situation
notify Education Abroad of any program changes, student issues, or Clery-reportable incidents that occur; troubleshoot and liaise with Main Campus colleagues as needed
strictly adhere to all financial procedures and budgetary policies; keep financial records any on-site expenditures (will be limited)
submit an evaluative report of the program within two weeks of program completion
reconcile travel advance within two weeks of travel component completion
At any time:
notify Education Abroad if your unit raises any concerns about your performance
On-site Program Administrators will not be responsible for:
designing the program
acting in a faculty role (all academic components are the Faculty Program Leader’s responsibility)
Partners, dependents, and/or guests may not accompany On-site Program Administrators on the program.
Additional information about expectations, policies and preparation will be provided to selected On-site Program Administrators.
On-Site Program Administrator Travel Expenses
Education Abroad and Overseas Campuses / Klein Global Opportunities will arrange group roundtrip economy air transportation to/from the host location, transportation to/from the airport in the host location, international travel medical insurance, hotel accommodations, and some group meals.
Education Abroad asks that your department participate in some modest cost-sharing by covering any other meals, incidentals (including international cell phone coverage), and U.S. ground transportation.
For the Klein Global Opportunities program (Croatia), a flat rate per diem will be provided to help cover meals and other program related travel expenses.
