True to the curriculum of Temple’s renowned Tyler School of Art and Architecture, the Art major focuses on visual art practice within a liberal arts context. Courses include design, drawing, painting, three-dimensional design, printmaking, digital photography, digital imaging, Internet imaging, moving images, motion graphics, media arts and art history. The faculty teaches studio art from the viewpoint of its connection to such disciplines as psychology, literature, philosophy, mathematics, biology and physics.

Asian Studies features an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the Asia-Pacific region’s fast-growing economies, rapid social change, environmental challenges, regional tensions, and rich cultural traditions. Students may specialize in various disciplines such as international relations, religion, literature, or history. Highlighted courses include:

Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary, Business studies and Economics curriculaencompasses a general knowledge of cultures, economies and societies, the business knowledge required to succeed in a variety of careers, and the language abilities to work across borders. Economics courses are offered from introductory through advanced, and foundational business offerings include Human Resource Management, Accounting, and Risk Management. Business students may also be interested in relevant courses such as Introduction to Asian Business (Asian Studies), Politics of the Global Economy (Political Science), or internships.

Embraces a variety of disciplines from Temple’s highly ranked Klein College of Media and Communication, including media studies, production, advertising, journalism, and rhetoric. Courses are offered in visual or audio production, and numerous internships are available in the communications field. Students often intern at PR agencies, news agencies, and production companies.

Computer Science offerings include foundational courses in traditional computer science concepts including algorithms, software engineering, computer architecture, programming languages, data structures, operating systems, networks, artificial intelligence, and image processing.

• World Society: Temple students who successfully complete (with a C- or better) credit-bearing coursework worth at least three semester hours in an approved summer or semester study abroad program with a minimum stay abroad of 28 days will satisfy the World Society (GG) requirement. 

The international affairs program aims to teach students the causes, nature, and evolution of issues among and between states, with a special focus placed on international relations between Japan and its East Asian neighbors. The interdisciplinary nature of international affairs allows students to take advantage of coursework in anthropology, history, political science, and sociology. 

The Japanese language program aims to provide students with a well-balanced proficiency in the areas of grammar, listening, speaking, and writing. In the classroom, study abroad students benefit from learning alongside degree-seeking undergraduates who are preparing for the Japanese proficiency test through this rigorous major. Courses are offered from beginning to advanced, as well as for native speakers; oral intensive courses are particularly popular amongst study abroad students. 

• Japanese 1001: Japanese Elements I
  If you wish to continue Japanese language study beyond your term abroad, you’ll choose Japanese 1001: Japanese Elements I, the first course in the Japanese language sequence.
• Japanese 2000: Practical Japanese for Study Abroad Students
  If you are interested in learning conversational Japanese language and about Japanese culture to assist you in navigating Japan during your study abroad term, but do not intend to continue with future Japanese language coursework, you’ll choose Japanese 2000: Practical Japanese for Study abroad Students (note: this course does not fulfill the pre-requisite for Japanese 1002: Elements II and is not appropriate for Japanese language minors/majors).
• Intermediate and Advanced courses
  If you have already studied Japanese, you may continue at the intermediate or advanced level. you will take a Japanese placement test upon arrival to confirm your language level. 

Political Science analyzes and systematizes political systems, political theory, and international relations. Students sound out the dimensions of these three sectors in basic courses before they specialize. Coursework available from introductory through upper-level.

Temple Japan's psychology program provides a broad understanding of psychology as the science of human behavior and of its underlying mental processes, while uniquely focusing on cross-cultural and Asian issues. Foundation courses such as developmental, clinical, social, cognitive, and organizational psychology develop students’ skills in critical thinking, research methodology, and research writing, and broaden their knowledge and deepen their understanding of pertinent cross-cultural and Asian issues. 

The Tourism & Hospitality Management program aims to prepare students for careers in the global tourism and hospitality industry. In addition to coursework, students can gain insight into the Japanese hospitality industry, known for its high standards of service and attention to detail and a growing interest in sustainable tourism practices.
