The Career Development Office at TUJ coordinates a robust internship program, which provides you with an opportunity to develop professional skills, gain employment experience, network with field leaders, and be immersed in Japanese culture.

  • Internships are offered in the Kyoto area with hotels, government organizations, educational institutions, NPOs, and small companies.
  • Interns work about 15 hours/week during fall/spring and 20 hours/week during the summer. If you obtain an internship, you will continue regular coursework while participating in the internship for three credits.
  • A faculty supervisor at Temple Japan oversees the internship, sets evaluation requirements, and checks in with students throughout the semester.
  • Some internships require Japanese language ability, but many internship placements are available for students who do not know Japanese.
  • Accepted study abroad students are provided detailed information about available internships and the internship application process several weeks after acceptance to the program. Please do not contact sponsors directly.
