Academic Program at Temple in Spain

The University of Oviedo (UniOvi) is a top-ranked public university in Spain with more than 21,000 students enrolled in 38 departments, and 17 faculties and schools. In line with its commitment to international excellence, several of the University's undergraduate degrees are taught entirely in English, and its center for language learning,  La casa de las lenguas, serves international students from across the globe.

For Spanish language, you will be enrolled in Casa's Cursos de Lengua y Cultura Españolas para Extranjeros program, which offers a broad range of courses in Spanish language and culture to international students.

SPRING SEMESTER

  • During the spring semester, if you elect to take courses taught in English, you will study alongside degree-seeking students in the University of Oviedo's degree programs, in courses taught by local faculty members. You will select one school from which to take your discipline-specific courses.

    • IH 0852-Intellectual Heritage II (fullfills GenEd requirement [GY] for Temple students) - spring only

Notes on degree courses

*Each school/college (known in Spain as a "facultad") organizes its own course schedules; given this and the distance between the University of Oviedo's campuses, it is not possible to take your discipline-specific courses in more than one school. If you choose this option, you will select one school from which to take your discipline-specific courses. In this way, your experience will be similar to University of Oviedo matriculated students, who take all of their courses within one school.

Summer

You will take two (2) courses at the Temple in Spain summer session.

  • Spanish language
  • Spanish language or special offering by Temple faculty

For Spanish language, you will take a placement test prior to departure to confirm your level and course. Please note that courses require minimum student enrollment to run. Education Abroad and Temple in Spain reserve the right to cancel courses at any time.

See full list of course offerings further below.

BEST FOR

  • Students seeking to begin or improve their Spanish language skills while fulfilling other degree requirements with course options taught in English.

Course Offerings

Education Abroad will work with accepted students to confirm course availability and schedules. Spring semester participants will register for courses once on-site; summer participants will register through Education Abroad prior to departure for Spain.

Below you can find the listing of available Spanish courses for each program. Additional spring semester courses will be posted soon.
