The University of Oviedo (UniOvi) is a top-ranked public university in Spain with more than 400 years of history. It is located in Asturias, a vibrant and picturesque region framed by mountains to the south and the Cantabrian Sea to the north. UniOvi has nearly 21,000 students enrolled in 38 departments across 17 faculties and schools. The university boasts a commitment to international excellence and regional research, and has partnered with Temple for many years.

Students participating in the exchange with UniOvi must enroll in at least 30 ECTS credits (15 Temple credits) per semester.

The University of Oviedo is divided into schools and colleges of academic focus, called "faculties." These faculties are grouped into separate campuses.
The university has seven campuses throughout Oviedo and in the nearby cities of Gijón and Mieres. The Engineering faculty, for example, is located in Gijón, about a 30/45-min bus ride from Oviedo.

UniOvi also hosts the a-dUO program, through which pairs exchange students with a Spanish student to help them complete orientation activities and find their way around the city and the university.

Program participants are required to be present for the entire length of the program, from the official arrival date through the program end date.
For Fall Semester, the examination period is scheduled for January. Alternative arrangements may be possible for exchange students.
Students may choose to live in university-arranged housing or find independent housing.
Engineering students will take courses in Gijón and can choose to live near the Gijón Campus, or commute from Oviedo.

Students may choose to find independent housing, and should start searching for housing as soon as possible if they choose to do so. Once students have decided to live off-campus, they will not be able to request on-campus housing should they be unable to find off-campus housing.
As an Exchange Program participant, you will have access to the support provided by your host institution.
The UniOvi International Student Services Office provides information and guidance to exchange students on academics, registration, housing, and more.
Students will pay a non-refundable program deposit of $400 within 2 weeks of nomination to the program. This non-refundable deposit is credited to your program fees as a prepayment.
Students pay Temple tuition and fees directly to Temple. Visit Temple’s Bursar for per-credit tuition rates. All students pay University Services Fee.

Temple Rome, Temple Japan, Temple in Spain, and Temple Faculty-led programs are open to qualified students matriculated at any U.S. or Canadian college or university.
Temple Exchange programs, Temple Global Seminars, and External programs are open only to matriculated Temple University students.
You are eligible to apply if you meet the following requirements.
You meet minimum cumulative GPA requirement from all colleges/universities attended. As of May 2025, the GPA requirement for most programs is 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Exceptions include:
You remain in good academic standing from the time of application until the start of your term abroad; students on academic warning are not eligible to participate.
You will need a passport, valid well beyond the length of your program, by the application deadline.

You must be in good disciplinary standing at the time of application and remain so through the start of your term abroad. Students who have been found responsible for a code of conduct violation and will not be in good disciplinary standing (including disciplinary probation) may submit a petition for review.
You are at least 18 years old at the time of application.
For UniOvi, the following additional considerations apply.
Non-U.S. citizens: you are welcome to study abroad if you meet the eligibility requirements; however, you are not permitted to study abroad on an exchange program in your home country. Please speak to Education Abroad if you have questions about your eligibility.
