Welcome to Temple’s Partner Toolbox site! We’ve created this private webpage for you as a helpful resource center. Notably, you can access our new syllabi library below, along with information regarding your assigned institutional representative, transcripts, consortium agreements, and more. This is a living library that will be updated periodically with new information and resources.
Don’t forget that we also have our public-facing Non-Temple Study Abroad Advisors page, which has lots of additional helpful information regarding our institutional relations team, programming, scholarships, student support, and more. Please explore both pages and let us know if you have any questions!
Partner Resources
Our institutional relations team at Temple Education Abroad is small but mighty, comprised of Sarah Short Hutyra, Assistant Director for Institutional Relations, and Andrew Sandefur, Institutional Relations Manager. Together, we work with schools around the U.S. and Canada who send students abroad with Temple.
All institutions who have a formal partnership with us have been assigned to either Sarah or Andrew as their primary point of contact. If you need a refresher on who is your assigned primary contact, please consult our Contact List, which will be updated periodically. If you do not currently have a formal partnership with us and would like to discuss possibly establishing one, please write to Sarah Short Hutyra.
Non-Temple students may order official Temple University transcripts via the Temple University Registrar at the conclusion of their program, for a minimal fee.
Before students request to have an official transcript sent to their institution, they should first do the following:
- Confirm on TUportal that all grades are posted.
- Ensure on TUportal that there are no holds on their account (such as a financial hold due to unpaid balance on their Temple account or a disciplinary hold due to an outstanding disciplinary matter).
- Verify that their home institution will accept an eTranscript before ordering one. If their home institution does not accept eTranscripts, request a paper transcript.
- Verify with their study abroad advisor the accurate and complete physical or electronic institutional mailing address where the official transcript should be sent.
Online access to academic history
Non-Temple students also receive a Temple University login username during the application process; this provides access to their academic history and grades on TUportal, the University’s central student information system.
If your students will be paying Temple University directly for some or all of their program costs, plan to have financial aid travel with them, and require a completed consortium agreement, please read the following.
Our office utilizes a Smartsheet form to process consortium agreements. Staff members from the Education Abroad Office cannot sign these agreements; they must be submitted through the Smartsheet form, and then our business team submits them to Temple’s contract approval system for signature. Students are directed to submit consortium agreements through the Smartsheet form in their mandatory Canvas pre-departure course. Students are advised the following:
Consult with your study abroad office and financial aid office at your home school to find out which sources of aid are available to you and what the processes are for using aid to attend a Temple program. Most schools allow federal, state, and institutional aid to travel with you, but there are some exceptions.
Your home school's financial aid office may require Temple to complete a document called a consortium agreement to determine your financial aid eligibility. If your school asks for this, please submit your school's consortium agreement through our online form. Agreements take two to three weeks to be signed by Temple and returned to you.
Once your financial aid is disbursed, it may be sent either directly to Temple or to you. Check in with your study abroad office and financial aid office at your home school to learn exactly how a financial aid transfer will work for you.
If you’re planning to finance all or part of your study abroad through financial aid funds, make sure to follow all of your school’s procedures for transferring financial aid before you leave for your program.
If you will be utilizing financial aid to pay your program costs and cannot meet the deadline indicated on the bill, you must provide Education Abroad with a letter or email from your institution indicating the amount of aid being disbursed, the date it will be disbursed, and whether it will be disbursed to you or directly to Temple.
Syllabi Library & Course Information
Below please find details about Temple's course numbering system, examples of previous course syllabi, and other information.
Education Abroad & Overseas Campuses maintains a library of recent sample syllabi for many of our course offerings. Please feel free to share with students or faculty members who need to review the syllabi for credit and course evaluation.
While intended to be as thorough as possible, the library is not exhaustive, particularly as new courses become available. If you are looking for a specific course, but cannot locate the syllabus, please email Andrew Sandefur.
All Temple University courses utilize a four-digit numbering system, which, in part, identifies the level of the course. For example, course numbers starting with a “0” are undergraduate General Education courses. Course numbers starting with a “1” are first-year courses, course numbers starting with a “2” are second-year courses, etc. To learn more about Temple’s course numbering rules and conventions, please visit Temple's bulletin.
Each individual Temple course also has a three-digit section number. Section numbers can be used to identify which Temple campus a course is being offered at and if the section is in-person, hybrid, or online. Below we have outlined how to identify which overseas campus a course is being taught at and the modality that is being used to teach that course:
55X – Temple Rome (all courses taught in Rome are in person)
Example: IH 0851, 551
80X – Temple Japan* in-person courses
Example: IH 0851, 801
77X – Temple Japan* hybrid courses
Example: IH 0851, 771
75X – Temple Japan* online courses
Example: IH 0851, 751
*Temple Japan includes both Tokyo and Kyoto campuses
